The Philippines Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), as steward of the country's mineral resources, is committed to the promotion of sustainable mineral resources development, aware of its contribution to national economic growth and countryside community development. It fully recognizes that the development of a responsive policy framework in partnership with stakeholders to govern mineral exploration, mining and investment decisions and an effective institutional structure, are fundamental requisites for the sustainable utilization of the country's mineral resources.
The Department of Geological Survey & Mineral Exploration Ministry of Mines is a Division of the Ministry of Mines of Burma and carries out research in geological and mineral resources. The Department functions according to the Myanmar Mines Law and Rules. The Department of Geological Survey & Mineral Exploration has prepared geological maps for almost 77% of the country. As a result of its explorations, deposits of coal, lignite, lead, gold, silver, copper and sapphire have been discovered in numerous areas.
SEGENA was transformed into the Ecuadoran Institute for geological, mining and metallurgical research (INIGEMM) on the 29th of January, 2009. INIGEM’s main mission is to generate, organize and manage scientific and technological information on geological, mining and metallurgical issues at the national level, to assist in a territorial planning oriented towards a sustainable development of the mining resources and a preventive management of geological hazards.
