Crowdsourcing community responds to Philippine floods

Google's Crisis Response Team launched a resource page for the emergency management of floods in Manila, Philippines. The widespread and heavy rains produced by Typhoon Haikui have flooded the Philippine capital and have affected over 800,000 people and displaced around 250,000. The resource page presents an open spreadsheet and crowdsourcing reports that are used by volunteers to collect reports on urgent needs. It includes time of incident, location, a description of the alert and the person it was reported by. It also embodies a shelter map and a real time modeling of flood inundation that monitors the level of the river Marikina with the collaboration of the Nationwide Operational Assessment of Hazards
