The International Workshop on "Application of GIS and Rs in Water Resources Management"

Sun, 19 Dec - Wed, 22 Dec 2010

GIS applications allow users to create interactive queries, analyze spatial information, edit data, maps, and present the results of all these operations. The technology can be used for scientific investigations, resource management, environmental impact assessment, urban planning, or cartography. Remote sensing (RS) is the collection of data through imaging sensor technologies, usually on an aircraft or satellite. Applications include monitoring flood areas and effects of climate change.

The Regional Training workshop will cover an introduction to GIS and Remote Sensing, Data preparation and processing, and application in IWRM, specifically on how GIS is used in the IWRM at catchment level. It also covers application of GIS and RS in tracing impacts of climate change and flood zone mapping. DEM hydro-processing and GIS Based Water Resources Models and developing IWRM models using GIS tools will also be covered in the workshop.
