FAO’s Big Data tool on food chains under the COVID-19 pandemic

This open-access tool developed by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Data Lab gathers and analyses real time information on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on food and agriculture, value chains, food prices, food security and undertaken measures, with the aim of providing countries with facts and information to build their decisions. The maps provided by FAO represent some of the daily analyses that this tool enables: a hunger map combined with covid-19 incidence, a map of food chain disruptions highlighted by newspapers' tweets worldwide, a map of food prices variations and a trend line of the COVID impact on food chains in the newspapers' tweets.

FAO also publishes various other resources on the impact of COVID-19 on food security and agriculture, such as a series of policy briefs on the topic, which can be accessed through a dedicated website.
