Mongolia Research Center for Astronomy and Geophysics (RCAG)

RCAG is an academic institute focusing on Earthquake preparedness created in 1957. It has developed an early warning system for Ulaanbaatar city within a 300 km radius. Earthquake Early Warning Systems are a component of a larger Natural Hazards Early warning System (NHEWS). The Earthquake Early Warning System shall be in operation by the beginning 2015. Earthquake information with a magnitude greater than 3.5 (Richter scale) should trigger an automatic and direct communication to NEMA. RCAG generates micro-zonation maps over a specific basin and seismic center in the provinces.
