GIS and Water Resources Modeling Workshop

Purdue University

Mon, 4 Aug - Wed, 6 Aug 2014

This three-day workshop is designed for working professionals, students, and researchers, to provide hands-on experience with advanced GIS capabilities for water resources modeling. Specifically, this workshop will focus on downloading geospatial data from the Internet, projecting data into GIS, data preparation for hydraulic and hydrologic analysis, geodatabase development including ArcHydro, data pre-processing for HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS, import/export of geospatial and temporal data, and GIS visualization.

Participants will get hands-on training in HEC-GeoHMS (ArcGIS 10 version), HEC-GeoRAS (ArcGIS 10 version), HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and ArcGIS extensions such as Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst. A brief overview of advanced topics--such as integrating cross-section data with digital elevation model, using NEXRAD data in HEC-HMS, and unsteady analysis in HEC-RAS--will also be included.
