Welcome to the Association of American Geographers' Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois! You will be joined by fellow geographers, GIS specialists, environmental scientists, and other leaders for the latest in research and applications in geography, sustainability, and GIScience. The meeting will be held from April 21 - 25, 2015, and will feature over 4,500 presentations, posters, workshops, and field trips by leading scholars, experts, and researchers. The AAG annual meeting has been held every year since the association's founding in 1904.

US might face super-droughts in the future

The south-west of the United States could face severe droughts in the future, scientists found

Scientists of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, have found that the south-west and the central plains of the United States of America could face super-droughts in the future. 

The study published in the journal Science Advances compares earlier droughts with climate simulations for the coming decades. The team reconstructed past climate conditions and compared these with 17 climate models and soil moisture assessments.
