Agreement between British Geological Survey and Bluesky

The British Geological Survey (BGS) and Bluesky mapping company have reached an agreement so that a set of BGS's map layers will be available for purchase on Bluesky’s website. These geological and geohazard maps will include eight layers with high resolution aerial images, detailed elevation models and Ordnance Survey mapping.

Volunteers mapped Nepal’s Earthquake within 48 hours

The same day a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal, digital volunteers from all over the world began to map the affected areas. Based on data and satellite imagery the created maps help first responders, before they even hit the ground, on search, rescue and relief operations.

Rwanda implements the first Land Use Mapping Portal in Africa

Rwandans can now easily access land-use plans and other spatial data through the National Land Use Planning Portal (NLUPP).

The portal, the first of its kind in Africa, has been established on Esri's ArcGIS platform by the Rwanda Natural Resources Authority with the financial support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
