On 15 March 2024, UN-SPIDER organized its annual meeting of the network of UN-SPIDER Regional Support Offices. The meeting was held in the UN Campus in Bonn, Germany.
The international conference attracted professionals from Africa, Asia and Latin America to take note of advances developed by the space community and other international and regional organizations to improved early warning systems worldwide.
To enhance the use of space technologies to contribute to prepare for, and respond in case of forest fires, UN-SPIDER, ASAL and ZFL joined forces to organize the UN-SPIDER/ASAL/ZFL Workshop "Space-based Solutions for forest fires in Algeria".
Addressing the pressing need to mitigate disaster risks, the conference will center on early warning systems for disasters, a crucial component in global efforts to combat climate change and achieve sustainable development goals.
