The Department of Prevention and Emergency of the District of Bogotá (DPAE) was created in 1999 with the function to coordinate all prevention and emergency response activities in Bogota.
In 2010, DPAE ceased to exist and all its functions were assigned to the Colombia Prevention and Emergency Support Fund (FOPAE). FOPAE's mission is to lead, coordinate and guide the District Risk Management System (SDGR); and promote policies, legislation, plans, programmes and projects in order to reduce risks; to help improve the quality of life of the population of Bogotá.
The Agustin Codazzi Geographic Institute (IGAC), host to UN-SPIDER's Regional Support Office in Colombia, successfully ended the fourth version of the International Geomatics Week. The 2013 event focused on "geospatial technologies and management of the territory". The event took place from 30 September to 4 October in Bogota, Colombia.
