UNISDR issues third call for abstracts for GAR15

The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) is issuing a Third Call for Abstracts as part of the development of the 2015 Global Assessment Report (GAR15).

OECD study: Hyogo Framework boosts funding for disaster risk reduction

A recent study conducted with eleven member States of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) found that “all respondents reported that their DRR funding has either slightly, or significantly, increased since the launch of the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA) in 2005”, as UNISDR reported. The HFA is an international action plan adopted by all UN member States to reduce mortality and economic losses from disasters.

Asia-Pacific countries agree on ways to step up cooperation on disaster risk reduction

On the 1st of July, Asia-Pacific countries ended three days of talks at a United Nations forum in Bankok, agreeing to work more closely together on disaster risk reduction and make this central to national development strategies.
