The Technical University of Mozambique is currently conducting different research activities in disaster risk management. This includes the training of national technicians on GIS applied to DRM, applied research in students’ thesis, mapping during the Zambezi river floods (2007-2008), mapping of focal zones of malaria, cholera and respiratory diseases in collaboration with Maputo City Health Directorate and mapping of earthquake risk prone areas in Maputo and communities prone to climate change. UDM is also active in regional and international networks, such as the Peri-Peri network, and conducted an analysis together with USAID and OCHA on humanitarian hot spots in Africa.
