The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of El Salvador (Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería - MAG) governs all activities carried out by the State in regard to agriculture and livestock and with regard to fishing and aquaculture. As in all countries, this Ministry is responsible for promoting the export of agricultural produce in combination with the support of agriculture for local consumption and subsistence agriculture which is typical in developing countries.
In early May 2014, the United States National Drought Center, in cooperation with the United States Department of Agriculture, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln developed a map, which shows the extended area affected by high temperatures and subsequent droughts in the United States.

Within the framework of its collaboration with the Algerian Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Algerian Space Agency (ASAL) - host to one of UN-SPIDER's Regional Support Offices - has mapped potential locust reproduction zones in the South of Algeria and the North-East of Mauritania. The experts analyzed the ecological conditions of the migratory locust for the period between 18 January and 3 February 2014.
