ONU-SPIDER vise à combler l’écart entre les différentes communautés impliquées dans l’utilisation des informations spatiales aux fins de gestion des risques et catastrophes et interventions d’urgence. Il peut s’agir par exemple de fournisseurs de technologie satellite, d’experts en télédétection, navigation satellite et experts en communication satellite, de spécialistes en risques et catastrophes, décideurs, responsables des interventions, ou de chercheurs.. À cet effet, ONU-SPIDER compile et informe régulièrement le public sur les actualités et événements de différentes communautés.
