GLONASS: Belarus and Russia sign satellite navigation agreement

Belarusian network operator SKB Kamerton and Russia’s non-profit partnership Agency for Development and Use of Navigation Technology, NP GLONASS, have signed a cooperation agreement in the field of satellite navigation and the use of GLONASS technologies in Belarus and Russia. The document was signed by heads of the two organizations Alexander Kutko and Alexander Gurko at the 3rd international congress ERA-GLONASS, BelTA learnt from the Russian company.

The cooperation agreement envisages the use of the emergency response system on the territory of Belarus, harmonization of this system with Europe’s eCall, unobstructed and safe movement of vehicles and cargo along international transport corridors passing through the territory of Belarus and Russia. The two countries plan to develop compatible navigation and information systems using GLONASS satellite navigation solutions.

“This strategic partnership in the field of navigation solutions will contribute to formation of the single navigation and information space on the territory of the Union State and will provide navigation and information support for the transport corridors passing through the territories of our countries,” President of NP GLONASS Alexander Gurko said.
