Call for scholarships: Copernicus Master in Digital Earth

Geospatial technologies have the ability to confront global problems in a way never seen before; and the demand for qualified professionals to address these problems grows as well. With this in mind, the European Union’s Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) Programme - in conjunction with the EU’s Copernicus programme - is calling for applications to the Copernicus Master in Digital Earth.

Oil Spill Mapping with Sentinel-1

Undefined

This webinar provides the basics of image processing for oil spill mapping. It demonstrates how to access the RUS Service and how to download, process, analyse and visualize the free data acquired by the Copernicus satellites. The ESA SNAP Sentinel-1 Toolbox will be employed to demonstrate the methodology to map an area affected by this type of pollution.

Copernicus

Copernicus is the European flagship programme for monitoring the Earth, using a combination of satellite and ground (in-situ) sensors. Next to the Space segment, encompassing the fleet of Sentinel satellites and a number of contributing missions, the programme includes six operational core services, managed by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW).

The Land Monitoring Core Service (LMCS) processes Earth Observation data in order to provide qualified added-value products and information about the land surface, while ensuring continuity and timely delivery to a broad range of users.
