In August 2016, heavy rainfall occurred in Louisiana, United States, raising the level of the rivers leading to floods.
The Integrated Multi-Satellite Retrievals for GPM (IMERG) of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) gathered data 12 to 14 August. The continuous precipitations during three days lead to record level heights of rivers. More than 20,000 people were rescued and six were killed by the floods. John Bel Edwards, the Governor of Louisiana, announced a state of emergency on the 12th of August.
The international Charter has been activated on the 13th of August for major disaster (https://www.disasterscharter.org/web/guest/-/flood-in-united-stat-3).
