The Earth Observation (EO) value added Industry is quickly evolving. It has a pool of resources and services which must be organized, catalogued and presented in a unified tool. EOPages has been designed as a brokerage platform to help potential customers find suppliers for example in the field of disaster and risk management. The European Space Agency (ESA) has sponsored EOpages under eovox project, in collaboration with the European Association of Remote Sensing Companies, EARSC.
EARSC has also issued a taxonomy for Earth Observation services market. A clear and common description of EO products and services will help suppliers and customers arrive at a common understanding of what can be offered. By proposing a common language, the taxonomy targets a translation between the world of EO services and the world(s) of their customers. The document also cites UN-SPIDER as a reference (p.6).
