Esri, PCI Geomatics, MDA and RapidEye announced their new Natural Resources Imagery Grant Program. The grant fosters innovative approaches to solving natural resources management problems and detecting and analyzing land-cover change by using synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery from RADARSAT-2 and RapidEye 5m multispectral imagery. With this purpose, the program will provide software, data and training for the above mentioned GIS, image processing and remote-sensing technologies.
Twenty organizations will be awarded GIS and imagery software, training, satellite and aerial image processing, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery, and multispectral imagery valued at $2,000,000.
Eligible organizations include all types of companies, educational institutions, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), state and regional governments, or tribal governments in the United States, that focus on remotely sensed imagery beyond the visible spectrum. Aüpplications will be accepted from the beginning of September until November, 16 2012.
