This is an online event through interactive data discovery and user practices on state-of-the-art operational datasets for detection of fire, related emissions and impacts
The aim of GPD is to provide the scientific community with a global paleofire dataset for research and archiving sedimentary records of fire.
The GPWG will meet the growing needs of interdisciplinary fire scientists and practitioners by developing research projects, in collaboration with stakeholders, that employ diverse data sources, a new open-access database, statistical tools, and state-of-the-art models to address questions about fire-regime variations and their feedbacks on species, ecosystems, and climate.
This webinar provides the basics of image processing for active fire detection. It demonstrates how to access the RUS Service and how to download, process, analyse and visualize the free data acquired by the Copernicus satellites. The ESA-SNAP Sentinel-1 Toolbox will be employed to demonstrate the methodology to map active wild fires.
