The Fifth Africa Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction is being organised, under the leadership of the African Union Commission at Abuja, Nigeria on 13 - 16 May 2014 to develop the Africa contribution to the post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction to be considered at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction and its Preparatory Committee meetings.

The guidance document is a product of an expert workgroup on climate change vulnerability assessment convened by the National Wildlife Federation in collaboration with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This course is designed to guide conservation and resource management practitioners in two essential elements in the design of climate adaptation plans.
The target audience includes conservation practitioner from Federal and State fish, wildlife agencies and other conservation managers who work on natural resource issues and need to determine which resources are most vulnerable when setting priorities for conservation action.

An Auckland Council-sponsored disaster communication conference will be held in Auckland in May.
Attendees will hear some of the world’s leading disaster communications professionals, including Denis McLean, Chief of Communications for the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, discuss their experiences and give advice and tips on how to lead the community through a disaster.
Auckland Council is working with Australian not-for-profit group Emergency Media and Public Affairs (EMPA) to bring the conference to New Zealand for the first time.
