The Global Flood Working Group is a multi-disciplinary group of scientists, operational agencies and flood risk managers focused on developing efficient and effective global flood tools that can address these challenges. The goals of the group are (1) to develop and improve global flood forecasting and monitoring systems, (2) to deploy these systems in a global flood observatory tracking floods in near real-time, (3) to build a global flood record suitable for flood risk assessment and (4) to make these tools available to organizations and countries that need them.
The Indian state of Gujarat is planning a project to set up a satellite-linked disaster warning system along Gujarat's coastline to alert fishermen during adverse weather conditions. According to the statements made on 3 August 2003 by V Thiruppugazh, the executive director of Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority, the government is already working in the implementation of this project.
Thiruppugazh stated that this project would help the government coordinate with other agencies effectively during adverse weather conditions.

On March 11, 2011, a devastating earthquake and subsequent tsunami hit Japan. Now the World Bank and the Government of Japan have launched a joint knowledge-sharing project called "Learning from Megadisasters". The 33rd Asian Conference On Remote Sensing is joint organized by ?The Conference is jointly organized by Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA), Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and AARS. The conference focuses on several aspects of remote sensing for instance algorithm, image processing, GIS, disaster and natural resoures. Two concurrent activities: WEBCON2 and Summer School, are also mentioned as parts of program.

The maps requested via the International Charter: Space and Major Disasters regarding the wildfires that ravaged north Algerian forests during summer 2012, are now available on the Charter's website.
An estimated 20,000 hectares of land have been ravaged by forest fires in the north of Algeria since June. These are a result of hotter than average summer heat waves that have been reported to reach as high as 50 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Authority furthermore works on the development early warning systems for disaster prevention, environmental conservation, adaptation to climate change and to stop the degradation of forests and land.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provides an online Course Catalog presenting searchable, integrated information on courses provided or managed by FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP), Emergency Management Institute (EMI), and National Training and Education Division (NTED). The online course catalog is now available although is still under construction. The catalogue is searchable i.e. by course description, location, provider, target aufience or target capability.
