Weeks of heavy rainfall in South America caused floods in Uruguay.
Nine provinces were affected, including Treinta y Tres, Paysandu, Durazno, and Salto. The floods affected over 4000 people, many of whom had to be evacuated.
The floods were exacerbated in some areas by the high water levels on the Uruguay River, which caused floods in neighbouring Brazil and Argentina.
UNOOSA/UN-SPIDER requested the activation on behalf of the National Emergency System (SINAE) of the Presidency of Uruguay.
