The Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) is a non-profit organization supporting the advancement of safer communities and sustainable development, through implementing programs and projects that reduce the impact of disasters upon countries and communities in Asia and the Pacific.

ADPC was established in 1986 as an independent regional organization. ADPC has deepened networks with government line agencies and built strong partnerships with regional organizations and development agencies as a way to provide the foundation for its work. It works in a number of countries in Asia including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Saudi-Arabia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam. With headquarters located in Bangkok, Thailand, ADPC has country offices in Bangladesh and Myanmar.

ADPC deploys disaster risk management (DRM) information and systems to reduce local, national and regional risk across Asia-Pacific. Its portfolio focuses on DRM capacity building, improving DRM for cities and climate change, mainstreaming DRM into national and local development, improving DRM systems and undertaking disaster risk assessments. To achieve its aims in disaster risk reduction, ADPC works closely with local, national and regional governments, governmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and development partners.

SERVIR-Mekong

Through a unique partnership between the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA), SERVIR-Mekong is harnessing the power of space technology and open data to help address the most pressing environmental challenges.

A five-year (2014-2019) geospatial data-for-development program, SERVIR-Mekong works in partnership with leading regional organizations to help the Lower Mekong Region use information provided by Earth observing satellites and geospatial technologies to manage climate risks. The region includes Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar (Burma), Thailand and Vietnam.

Capacity Building

ADPC is a well-known regional resource center for capacity building of national governments, intergovernmental organizations, UN agencies, international non-governmental organizations, local non-governmental organizations and community-based organizations. Through its multi-disciplinary approach, ADPC has been designing training curricula and conducting training courses in a wide range of disaster management disciplines.   For more information on the trainings offered through ADPC, please visit www. https://adpc.net/igo/contents/Training/

Building on the foundations established by ADPC, SERVIR-Mekong empowers decision-makers with tools, products, and services to act locally on climate-sensitive issues such as disasters, agriculture, water, ecosystems and land use. The program is breaking new ground by leveraging advanced technology with a user-driven approach to ensure decision makers in the Lower Mekong have the capacity and confidence to respond to the impacts of climate change.
