ActInSpace is an international innovation contest inspiring young women and men worldwide to meet challenges based on space technologies, data, patents and infrastructures to launch start-ups into all areas of our daily lives. Designed for students but open to everyone, the objective is to foster entrepreneurship, encourage start-up creation and promote the use of space technologies and space acquired data to change citizen’s lives, to boost employment and to protect our planet.
UN-SPIDER’s Regional Support Office in Romania, the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA), announced the prizes of the European Satellite Navigation Competition - ESNC 2015 – Romania Challenge. The competition will award the best ideas for innovative applications in satellite navigation, offering winners the necessary support and advice to open or develop a business based on their competition ideas. ROSA became the regional partner with Anwendungszentrum GmbH Oberpfaffenhofen (AZO) for the ESNC 2015. It will be the first national edition in Romania.
The Emirates Institution for Advanced Science and Technology (EIAST) announced last week the launch of the Remote Sensing Applications Competition 2014 (RSAC 2014).
The competition is open for all governmental sectors, educational and research institutes in the UAE, will be to conduct scientific research and comprehensive studies in designing and implementing state-of-the-art applications for the use of Earth Observation images acquired by DubaiSat-2.
The World Bank is calling for innovative ideas to solve challenges in disaster recovery and reconstruction, ahead of the World Reconstruction Conference, the first large-scale global conference to focus on natural hazard recovery and reconstruction. The event will take place in Geneva Switzerland from 10-13 May 2011, as part of the Third Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction.
