The second annual Disaster Preparedness Forum hosted by CSR Asia and sponsored by the Prudence Foundation builds on the success of the first Disaster Preparedness Forum (DPF) held in Jakarta in November 2013. The Forum brings together key leaders in business, humanitarian, NGO and government sectors across the Asia-Pacific region. The aim of this year’s event is to explore and discuss opportunities for cooperation on disaster recovery with a focus on building capacities well before a disaster occurs.

The Sixth Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction, hosted by the Royal Government of Thailand will be held in Bangkok, Thailand on 22-26 June 2014 . The Conference will be a venue for countries, organizations and individual practitioners to meet and discuss the way forward in reducing disaster risk in the region. It will also be the final regional inter-governmental meeting in Asia before the completion of the Hyogo Framework for Action 2005-15 and the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in 2015.

About seven months after Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) left a trail of devastation in its wake, the Philippines will host the Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM) Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management from June 4 to 6, 2014. Around 150 senior government officials, scientists, academics, policymakers, industry and business leaders, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and representatives of regional and international organizations from Asia and Europe will gather in Manila to discuss how best to handle future mega-disasters.

The Fifth Africa Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction is being organised, under the leadership of the African Union Commission at Abuja, Nigeria on 13 - 16 May 2014 to develop the Africa contribution to the post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction to be considered at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction and its Preparatory Committee meetings.
