Copernicus is a European system for monitoring the Earth in support of European policy. It includes Earth Observation satellites (notably the Sentinel series developed by the European Space Agency (ESA)), ground-based measurements and, services to process data to provide users with reliable and up-to-date information through a set of Copernicus operational services related to environmental and security issues.

The European Commission plans to rapidly expand its environmental monitoring programme Copernicus. For this purpose, the European Space Agency (ESA) recently pledged 2.55 billion Euros towards contracts to advance the production of six new Copernicus satellite missions.

Thales Alenia Space to invest in observation satellite production facility for developing countries

The main objective of this seminar is to disseminate knowledge and to share expertise and experiences in geospatial sciences on all aspects of natural resource management. This would be a regional seminar mainly for the participants (students/researchers) from Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and, Jammu & Kashmir. However, participants are welcome from any part of the country.
