Use of SBAS to monitor activity of the Nevados de Chillan volcano

The Nevados de Chillan is one of the active volcanoes of Chile. At the suggestion of the National Emergency Office of the Ministry of Interior (ONEMI) of Chile, an analysis of the deformation of the cone was conducted during the six months just before the eruption of June 2019. The analysis was conducted using the “Short Baseline Subset (SBAS)” technique. This user story presents the methods used and the results obtained.

Use of DinSAR and SBAS to monitor activity of the Taal volcano

Taal volcano in the Philippines experienced a large eruption in the middle of January 2020. The deformation of the greater caldera and its surroundings was analysed using differential SAR interferometry (DinSAR) days before and after the eruption. A separate analysis of the deformation of the inner cone of the volcano was conducted during the six months just before the eruption of January 2020. The analysis was carried out using the “Short Baseline Subset (SBAS)” technique. This user story presents the methods used and the results obtained.

Cameroonian Geological and Volcanic Research Station (ARGV) of the Institute for Geologic and Mining Research (IRGM)

The ARGV is responsible for implementing a programme of geophysical and geochemicl studies, within the IRGM. This structure focuses on natural hazards, and structural, geodynamic, and geological prospection. Several projects have been established since 1982, that have mainly focused on the Cameroon Volcanic Line (CVL) and in particular, Mount Cameroon, the only active volcano on a chain which extends over 1,500 km. Activities are conducted in three laboratories: the Seismology Laboratory, the Laboratory of Applied Geophysics, and the Laboratory of Volcanology.
