Given the burden of malaria in the country, Burkina Faso has implemented a national programme against malaria (in 1991, restructured in 1995) to reduce mortality and morbidity due to malaria. The Directorate for the Fight against Disease (MLD) is the anchoring structure of the NMCP at the central level. The programme is the coordination structure of the fight against malaria and it is responsible for: - Coordinate the fight against malaria - Promote operational research activities in the field of malaria - Ensuring regular supply of treated materials; - Establish treatment protocols.
