The Ministry of Defense is the representative body of the Armed Forces within the Council of Ministers of Peru that exercises the policy of the state for the integral defense of the country. It is headquartered in Lima.
The Ministry of Defense, being the Central Organism of the National Defense System, aims to formulate and disseminate the doctrine of national security and defense, conceived at the service of Peruvians, based on respect for the rights and essential values of the person and the community.
It is responsible in the administrative aspect for the preparation and development of the Institutes of the Armed Forces; of the mobilization for cases of emergency and of the supervision and control of the Decentralized Public Organisms of the Defense Sector. Likewise, in the operational aspect, he is responsible for the planning, coordination, preparation and conduct of military operations at the highest level, through the Joint Command of the Armed Forces.
