The National Agronomic Institute of Tunisia (INAT) was established in 1898 under the dual supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. INAT’s work focuses on a wide range of topics, including sustainable development issues, biodiversity, environment, functioning and engineering of natural and cultivated ecosystems, marine ecosystem, water, and animal production. INAT houses a doctoral school and hosts five laboratories and a research unit working on priority themes, such as agricultural and agro-food economy, rural water and forest engineering, fishery animal resources and food technologies, and plant agronomy and biotechnology.
