The National Meteorological Institute of Tunisia (NIM), funded in 1974, is a general directorate under the supervision of Transportation Ministry. Its main tasks include meteorological observation, seismic recording and location, astronomic observation and calculation of ephemeris, weather prediction, and providing meteorological, astronomy and geophysical data to the various national economic sectors. It consists of six regional subdivisions located in Tunis, Jendouba, Sousse, Sfax, Tozeur, and Medenine.
