This part of the series will concentrate on “Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial Applications” (FOSS4G). It builds up on two previous seminars – “OSGeo Live for Education” and “Open Geoscience”, both video podcasts to be found through MundoGeo.
The webinar proposes a critical overview of the state of art of Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial Applications(FOSS4G). The goal is to convey three main messages, supported by examples:
Advanced geospatial technology is able to cover the demand by citizens, authorities and science;
Introduction of successful FOSS4G projects;
Strengths and weaknesses of geospatial applications and their beneficial implementation.
