Background & Objectives
The webinar series aims to highlight the role of space-based technologies (Earth Observation, Global Navigation Satellite Systems, satellite communications, IoT, and Geospatial Artificial Intelligence) in strengthening disaster resilience throughout the entire disaster management cycle, from prevention and preparedness to early warning, emergency response, recovery, and resilient reconstruction.
Organized by AGEOS as UN-SPIDER Regional Support Office (RSO), with the support of UNOOSA/UNSPIDER and international partners, the series seeks to strengthen technical and institutional capacities, foster knowledge exchange, and encourage collaboration among organizations and experts working in disaster risk reduction and climate resilience.
Webinar Format and Speakers Contribution
Each webinar will last approximately 60-90 minutes and will feature expert presentations from international organizations and partner institutions, complemented by operational demonstrations, practical case studies, panel discussions, and interactive Q&A sessions. Invited speakers are expected to share practical experiences, innovative methodologies, operational applications, or real-world case studies related to the webinar theme, highlighting how space-based technologies and geospatial intelligence contribute to strengthening disaster management, emergency response, and resilience.
