The General Directorate of Civil Protection (DGPC) is part of the Ministry of the Interior, Public Security, Decentralisation and Customary and Religious Affairs.
Its mandate foresees the following objectives:
- Ensure the protection of: people, property and the environment from disaster and disaster risk;
- Study, develop and monitor civil security measures at the national level;
- Organizing and coordinating emergency relief;
- Participate in humanitarian assistance;
- Assessing the humanitarian consequences and victim assistance needs and coordinating the operational management of floods, fires, humanitarian issues of armed conflict, inter-community violence, industrial and technological disasters;
- Ensure the accounting management of the stocks of assistance made available.
