Strengthening Disaster Risk Reduction Across the Americas: A Regional Summit on the Contribution of Earth Observations
NASA Disasters Program and the Argentinian Comisión Nacional de Actividades Espaciales (CONAE), on behalf of the Group on Earth Observations and the Committee on Earth Observation Satellite
The Summit will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina September 3-8, 2017 at the Intercontinental Hotel Buenos Aires. The Summit affords a unique opportunity to strengthen our collective ability to meet the multiple challenges of disaster risk reduction (DRR) in the Americas with an overarching approach to promote the use of earth observation (EO). Please visit the Summit website to register and obtain more information about the Summit, including the proposed agenda, disaster simulation exercise, capacity trainings, poster session and more.
Due to the high degree of interest and diverse stakeholder participation, interested parties are asked to please apply to attend by August 13, 2017. A limited number of hotel rooms is available at a discounted rate.
In addition, in preparation for attending the Summit, the organizers provide a special series of web-based trainings and live-webinars throughout August, offered in both Spanish and English, on topics including satellite remote sensing and how to integrate relevant data, imagery and information products into improved disaster decision making. These sessions are free and open to all, but registration is requested.
