Description: | SEPAL is an opensource project developed by the Open Foris team in the Forestry Department of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The platform offers easy access to satellite data and cloud computing power to characterize and monitor land cover and land use at all spatial scales, and helps countries pave the way for improved climate change mitigation plans and better-informed land-use policies. SEPAL enables access and processing of historical satellite data and new data from Planet, Landsat, Europe’s Copernicus programme and ALOS. Applications include monitoring land use, locust outbreaks, and assessing forest cover in the world’s drylands. |
