Over the last two and a half years the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) has been continuously ensuring access to geodata in order to foresee and respond to natural disasters and crises. By coordinating and communicating with responders and data providers, the HO-Team helped to fill gaps in geographic data, which supported the response to crises in the Philippines, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Northern Mali and many more.
Besides its response efforts, HOT was engaged in Data Preparedness Activities through training courses, scoping missions and preventative mapping events, as well as in and Outreach Activities by taking part in conferences and events.
In looking back on the year 2012, the team uses the opportunity to thank all their volunteers: "Without you there would be no way we could have accomplished all that we did."
