On 16 December 2013, the vegetation monitoring satellite became operational.
Throughout the year, PROBA-V has contributed to the daily monitoring and mapping of worldwide vegetation, thus providing essential information on crop yields, droughts, desertification, changes in the type of vegetation, deforestation.
On the occasion of the satellite's first operational year, a compendium of twelve images showing the seasonal cycle in Europe has been published on PROBA-V's website.
"We are pleased to continue providing you with our high-quality 1 km and 300 m products in the new year and will extend our product suite with 100 m data during the first quarter of 2015", as the PROBA-V team stated on their website.
