The Human Planet Forum 2025, “People and Planet: Shared Understanding for Informed Action,” will explore how geospatial data supports safer, more inclusive, and sustainable decision-making. The event will feature new data, strengthen partnerships, and guide the next phase of the GEO Human Planet Initiative (GHP).
As a flagship event of the GHP, which focuses on understanding and mapping human presence on Earth through open geospatial data, the Forum will emphasize the value of geospatial information in promoting sustainability and resilience worldwide. Taking place in Ispra, Italy, the Forum will gather scientists, policymakers, UN organizations, civil society, and private sector representatives to co-develop practical knowledge in fields such as disaster risk reduction, sustainability, and societal resilience.
The 2025 edition seeks to present the latest GHP data products, methods, and applications, expand the network of partners and contributors to the GHP Work Programme, connect Human Planet insights with global policy agendas including the Sustainable Development Goals, Paris Agreement, and Sendai Framework, and design the 2025–2027 Human Planet Work Plan.
Open to anyone committed to applying spatial intelligence to support fair, inclusive, and sustainable decision-making.
