The first edition of the Key Recommendations for a Strengthened use of Science and Technology in Disaster Risk Reduction in the Americas and the Caribbean, presents the findings regarding the effect and significant role of scientific and technological research on strengthening the implementation and formulation of sound DRR policies.

Tropical Storm Ana triggers severe floods in eastern Africa - Copernicus EMS and International Charter active

Heavy rainfalls connected to tropical storm Ana have triggered severe flooding events in eastern Africa, affecting Madagascar, Mozambique, and Malawi. Flooding began after heavy rain in Madagascar on 17 January and continued with tropical storm Ana passing over the countries from 22 January.

"A Roadmap for Managing Disasters" by the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change published

From November 2021 to January 2022, the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change published a series of publications in the field of technology policy related to disaster management. The series is called “A Roadmap for Managing Disasters” and consists of four parts, each aiming at different aspects of the usage of technologies for disaster management. By drawing lessons learned from the European floods in 2022, as well as other flood-prone areas of the world, this initiative aims to share knowledge, shape policy, and drive action – and ultimately shift the focus from passive vulnerability to pro-active adaptation, innovation and transformation.
